Exemplifying Trilogy's unique ability to both recognize and realize upon a "value added"real estate strategy, the development and marketing of the Westin Grand Hotel aptly demonstrated Trilogy's abilities. Vancouver's first full service hotel development in more than a decade, the Westin Grand Hotel was developed in partnership with Cressey Development Corporation.

Trilogy purchased the Downtown Vancouver development site, together with plans for a luxury residential condominium, with the expressed intention of changing the property's use to that of a full service hotel. As well, a unique marketing strategy, Hotel Strata Ownership (HSO), to be marketed to individual sophisticated investors, was conceived and developed.

True to their mission as "value creators"and consistent with their rationale for purchasing the property, Trilogy programmed the site for hotel use and re-planned the project, while retaining the architectural uniqueness of the original work. Starwood Hotels and Resorts, then Westin Hotels, provided their franchise enabling a four-star, all-suites Westin Hotel to be conceived. Through Trilogy's stewardship, "The Grand"became "The Westin Grand", adding the value of an international hotel "flag"to the property.

The success of Trilogy's Hotel Strata Ownership marketing strategy became self evident immediately upon the offering being made available to the marketplace – during its pre-construction offering in November 1996, Trilogy pre-sold all of its 207 rooms in less than a week!

Today, the Westin Grand Hotel continues to perform as one of Vancouver's most competitive and successful downtown hotels, and is also recognized by Starwood Hotels for its exceptional guest services standards.
