UNIVERSITY MARKETPLACE

University Endowment Lands (U.B.C.)

Recipient of a 2002 Urban Development Institute (U.D.I.) Award for the best new mixed-use development in British Columbia, the University Marketplace project, consisting of retail, office and residential components, was a joint-venture development with Cressey Development Corporation.

University Marketplace demonstrates Trilogy's skill at developing sophisticated, mixed use development on highly sought after real estate. Using the experience garnered from their Whistler developments, University Marketplace was built on a prime, rezoned site on B.C.'s unique University Endowment Lands, adjacent to the University of B.C. campus. With a "captive market"of close to 50,000 students, academic and support staff, and an adjacent and expanding community of some 25,000 individuals, University Marketplace is ideally situated. Covering an entire city block, rising six stories in height, comprising 75,000 square feet of retail space and 75,000 square feet of office space and 108 residential apartments, University Marketplace is one of Greater Vancouver's signature, mixed use developments.

The acceptance of University Marketplace as part of a working "town centre"within the U.B.C. academic community has been instrumental in the urban planning for other B.C. universities. Following the U.B.C. model, Simon Fraser University developed its "UniverCity"master plan which, like U.B.C., includes that campus's first mixed-use retail and residential building. Similar in concept to University Marketplace, the retail component of Simon Fraser's "Cornerstone"is also being leased by Trilogy.

With the retail component of University Marketplace anchored by Staples, Starbucks, the Bank of Montreal, and BC Liquor Stores, ongoing retail leasing continues to be handled by Trilogy.
