Stylish Boutique Hotel Personifies Whistler Style Unzipped; Brings Modern Sophistication to Traditional Lodging Environment

Whistler, British Columbia – Whistler, North America’s premiere ski resort, has until now been characterized by large branded resort hotels offering a rustic style of ambiance. That’s all about to change. Chic, trendy and unique, Adara Hotel – scheduled to open its doors in mid December 2005 – will soon become Whistler Village’s first and only designer boutique hotel, promising to bring an element of urban flair to the woodsy resort town.

Offering 41 guest rooms and suites, Adara invites its guests to unwind in intimate, personalized surroundings. Visitors to Whistler may choose from one of four room and suite configurations – the Superior King/Queen, the Deluxe One-Bedroom Suite, the One-Bedroom Loft Suite or the Two-Bedroom Loft Suite. Each room or suite incorporates unique elements such as the “floating” fireplace – a fireplace built into a custom-designed cabinet, modeled to look as though it’s suspended in mid air – indulgent spa bathrooms and luxurious beds, while the larger rooms contain amenities such as flat screen televisions, patios and, in certain units, full kitchens – not to mention sweeping views of the mountains.

As with most Whistler accommodations, Adara’s interior finishes incorporate a wealth of natural materials, including wood and stone, to further augment the beauty of the surrounding landscape. Yet, Adara’s décor also delves into the contemporary realm, encompassing features such as European design-inspired seating pieces, five-foot walk in showers with “rain” shower heads, sheepskin throws and abstract art, adding chic design materials and finishes to the traditional lodge setting.

Nearly everything found within Adara – with the exception of several signature pieces – has been custom-designed specifically for the hotel. These iconic pieces are incorporated into guestroom décor, and include items such as a Werner Panton desk chair from Vitra, a Niels Bendtsen’s Canyon sofa and a Munro coffee table. The hotel lobby, meanwhile, contains a uniquely rendered Brent Comber custom communal table backed by horizontal mirrors to add the illusion of infinite space. Comber’s influence flows into the guestrooms, as well, as photography of his Alder bench is used for shower screens and the light boxes found in the loft bedrooms. The dramatic color scheme, comprised primarily of reds, browns and whites, invites visitors to sink further into style. Quirky design elements – such as antlers etched into the mirror in the elevator vestibule – add a further level of one-of-a-kind panache to the property.

During Whistler’s thriving summer season visitors may enjoy the large, outdoor heated pool and patio, while in the winter time, a soothing hot tub – backed by panoramic views of the mountains – invites guests to unwind.

“Adara Hotel puts a fresh and modern spin on the traditional rustic mountain experience, combining urban sophistication with exemplary service and an outstanding location,” says John Evans, President of Trilogy Properties Corporation, developers of Adara Hotel. “As testament to its distinctive quality and exceptional service, Adara is Whistler's first and only member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World.”

While Adara’s unique design and “personality” will quickly establish the hotel on the “Whistler scene,” hotel management and staff are also committed to providing guests with highly-personalized, exemplary service, commensurate with the more exacting level of service that today’s boutique hotel client seeks. At Adara, guests may enjoy the utmost in comfort from the coziness of their own room or suite, as in-room guest amenities include luxury mattresses and linens, high-speed internet access, a large safe for personal property, a bar fridge, microwave and coffee maker and in-room dining options from some of Whistler’s premiere restaurants. Additionally, some of the larger suites offer a sink, dishwasher and cook-top stove.

Adara Hotel also offers a number of on-site guest services, such as a 24-hour Guest Services staff and Front Desk, which ensure that travelers’ needs are well taken care of no matter what the time of day or night. Other services include exclusive restaurant reservations through Guest Services, personalized tour bookings, assistance with sports and recreational equipment rentals, assistance with airport and ferry reservations, currency exchange, access to a local full service health club and personal trainers, babysitting, pet sitting and pet walking services, laundry, dry cleaning and ironing services and ski and snowboard waxing and equipment repairs.

Developed and managed by The Trilogy Group of Companies, Adara Hotel is the corporation’s fourth major hotel project. Founded in 1990, Trilogy has initiated numerous prestigious developments, including the award-winning Whistler’s Marketplace in Whistler, and the popular Vancouver properties, OPUS Hotel and, in a joint venture, the Westin Grand Hotel. President and Founder John deC. Evans has initiated, directed and conceived some of Western Canada’s most notable developments in close to three decades of his real estate career.

A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Adara is located in the heart of Whistler Village at 4122 Village Green, British Columbia, Canada. Only steps away from the Blackcomb and Whistler Mountain gondolas and the Whistler Conference Center, Adara is also close to the Village’s best shopping, restaurants and nightlife activities.
